Google plans to launch service to connect users with home service providers

Google plans to launch service to connect users with home service providers

Following footsteps of e-commerce giant Amazon, Google is now planning to get into the home services business. The company is reportedly aiming to launch a new product which will connect Google Search users with local home-service providers such as plumbers, electricians and gardeners. This new service is expected to be announced at Google’s advertising conference which will take place in May.
According to Buzzfeed, sources close to Google have said that the new product will be integrated into Google’s core search offering. With this new product, Google will turn queries about home improvement tasks into interaction with home-service providers.
Sources also claim that the new product will go beyond the normal ‘presentation format’ and will connect Google search users with service providers. As of now, searching for things such as plumbers returns links to service providers as well as relevant AdWords advertisements.
The report added that Google has also introduced a new way for users to shop for auto insurance known as ‘Google Compare’. With this feature, when a user searches for “car insurance,” Google will display a box, advertising auto insurance brands. These advertisements will asks users to enter their zip code, allowing them to compare different rate offers from within Google’s app.
