HTC One M8s announced: 13MP duo camera, 64-bit SoC and more


HTC has unveiled 'One M8s' smartphone, an affordable version of its last year's flagship HTC One M8.  The HTC One M8s retains the 5 inch display of the HTC One M8 with a 1080p display and all-metal build, but does away with the UltraPixel camera.

The One M8s is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor with 2 GB RAM and runs Android 5.0 Lollipop OS with HTC's Sense 6.0 UI on top. It has 16 GB internal phone memory expandable via microSD card slot. The smartphone has a 13 MP rear dual camera and a 5MP front camera for video calling. Connectivity options included are 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS/ A-GPS, Wi-Fi and NFC support. The smartphone is powered by a 2840 mAh battery that is slightly larger than the 2600 mAh battery on the HTC One M8.

The One M8s will be available in gunmetal grey, silver and gold color variants. HTC has announced a limited release in Europe for now. There is no information whether the smartphone will be launched in other regions as well.

HTC has recently launched its flagship HTC One M9 smartphone in the US. The smartphone was up for pre-order on the company's site with a delivery before the in-store launch on April 10. The flagship device has a 5.5 inch Super LCD3 capacitive touch screen display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. The One M9 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor coupled with 3GB RAM, 32 GB internal memory expandable via microSD card slot up to 128 GB. It has a 20.7 MP auto focus rear camera with dual-LED flash and a 4 MP front camera. The device runs on Android 5.0 OS with HTC Sense UI 7.0 on top.
