LG Display claims Apple will debut the ‘iMac 8K’ this year

LG Display claims Apple will debut the ‘iMac 8K’ this year: Report

In an unusual turn of events, LG Display claims that Apple has plans to launch an 8K iMac with a super-high resolution display this year. Interestingly, Apple has made no such official announcement, yet. A press release by LG Display was spotted by Apple Insider and since then, LG has taken down the article mentioning the “iMac 8K.”
The press release stated that “Apple has also announced that they will release the ‘iMac 8K’ with a super-high resolution display later this year.” A report by Mashable informs us that LG’s press release was focused on the future of 8K, which will be packed in with a 7680 x 4320 pixel resolution, which is four times the resolution of a 4K screen and 4 times the number of pixels.
The report also added that the company had also mentioned a launch in Japan, an 8K service demonstration at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics in Korea.
Apple had introduced a new 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display last October and as the company usually takes its time with every product launch, it is unlikely to upgrade to an 8K display anytime soon. The new iMac is rumored to make an appearance by September this year.
